that picture still makes me smile. and no matter what you say, i still believe that you are absolutely beautiful. metaphors never melted on my tongue, similes never collapsed at my fingertips until i met you, and i realized they weren’t enough. any other boy, they could cover blindfolded, but for you, they fumble until they tumble and they crumble in defeat. they are beaten by the color of your eyes and the texture of your smile, just like me.

Electricitymy lovely lover, i do believe you need to get your eyes checked, for i am simply not as beautiful as you say i am. my eyes don’t make hearts tremble and quake and dribble down ribcages to pool, icy cold and shaky hot, into stomachs. my smile won’t launch even a dinghy, let alone a fleet of Helen proportions.

What does your art mean to you?---sasukesadork, [link]

To me, my art means:

Not being afraid to explore yourself.

Not being afraid to say what needs to be said.

Letting your thoughts lead you where you need to go.

Letting your characters grow without your guidance.

Realizing that everything means something.

Realizing that somehow, somewhere, even if it's a dimension that doesn't really exist, you matter.

I can't tell you enough how much writing matters to me, how much I need it. I don't know who I would be if I couldn't write. I definitely don't know what I would do with my life if I couldn't write. I think our abilities---whether it's the ability to sympathize or love or sing or dance---define who we are, not only as a race but as individuals. The fact that I write is a part of me, a part as vital as my heart or my lungs, and just as accepted to those who know me.

If I couldn't write, I honestly don't know if I'd be alive right now. Paper is my closest confidante. Words release pain better than any blade. But if I didn't know that, if I didn't love and wasn't loved by words, I highly doubt I'd have been able to handle my paltry heartbreak. Sure, it sounds overdramatic, and I'll be the first to admit I'm a drama queen extraordinaire, but if you write, or paint or sing or run or whatever, you know what I mean.

You know what it feels like to be released by what you love to do. You know what it feels like to be high off doing what you enjoy, and doing it well. You know how that has the power to save you.
